It was not unusual to have several units flying out of one airfield, and other planes sometimes stayed a few days while in transit. Here two Bregeut bombers are seen visiting the Behonne airfield. Unfortunately, Kiffin has just crashed Bert Hall’s plane into the bomber in the background. Bert’s plane, with a machine gun on the top wing, is also visible in the background. Crosswinds and poor ground conditions often led to accidents at Behonne, as Kiffin learned when he landed after his demonstration flight. (Photo courtesy of Washington & Lee University.)
