Kiffin flew so many missions in July that his plane was frequently down for maintenance. When that happened, he scrounged for whatever plane was available. Here he is adjusting the machine gun on Victor Chapman’s old plane, the one that was so badly shot up in June. Kiffin’s regular mechanic, Michel Plaa-Porte stands by the propeller while an unknown mechanic on the left loads bullets into an ammunition drum for the Lewis machine gun on the top wing.
