Books
I’ve published two books to date, and a third will be published in November of 2025.
The Aviator is a biography of Jim McConnell, an American who volunteered to drive an ambulance in France before the US entered World War 1. He experiences rescuing wounded French soldiers convinced him he needed to take a more active part in the war, so he became a pilot in the famed Lafayette Escadrille. The title comes from a statue that was erected in Jim’s honor at the University of Virginia.
First to Fight is a biography of Kiffin Rockwell, an American who volunteered to fight for France during World War 1, first as an infantryman in the French Foreign Legion and later as one of the world’s first fighter pilots. The title comes from the fact that he volunteered the day before Germany declared war on France, and nearly three years before the US entered that war.
Flaming Floorboards is, believe it or not, a true account of my adventures and misadventures with old cars. Most people would consider them antiques, but most people wouldn’t try to use them as daily drivers. The title comes from the fact that many of these cars have had wooden floorboards which have, on occasion, caught fire.
Since these books are currently for sale I can’t offer them for download through this website, but if you click on the pictures below you can read read descriptions of the books and see additional information such as excerpts and photo supplements.
